Every Realtor is required to take classes to maintain their license. Beyond that many Realtors choose to earn special designations by taking classes and passing an exam in a particular specialty.
I have earned the following designations:
SRES 2002.- Senior Real Estate Specialist.. Seniors may have many special needs like downsizing or moving into an assisted living space. They may need advice on hiring other professional such as appraisers for their valuables. They may need advice on when or if they need to move, sell, rent or stay in place and do a reverse mortgage. I can help them find the professionals that they need.
GRI 2003 Graduate Real Estate Institute. This involved three separate annual seminars with comprehensive exams. More detailed study of a broad spectrum of Real Estate Issues.
Broker Transition Course 2003. The law changed at this time requiring all agents to become brokers.
CRIS 2008 - Certified Real Estate Investment Specialist. This required studying both residential and small listing to determine where the best investments were for a particular client. Although I now have a computer program that helps to analyze the data; in the test it was done by calculator.
Energy Trust Allay 2009 - this is more a commitment to continued learning about updates on green living. I have also committed to working with the Energy Trust to help educate.
CDPE 2009 - Certified Distressed Property Expert - My commitment to helping people sell their home before a foreclosure and be able to move forward with their lives. Hopefully, they will again be able to own in the future without a foreclosure on their record.
